Peptide therapy: what to know before your first consult

September 28, 2026•2 min read

You may have heard about peptide therapy from a friend, at the gym or online. If you're curious, here's the most useful thing to know: you don't need to know which peptide to ask for. Peptide options vary widely. The first step is understanding your goals, your health and whether peptide therapy fits into your care at all.

Desert Lily's approach: labs first, options second

Every Desert Lily peptide-therapy patient begins with laboratory testing and a personal clinical evaluation. Your goals help begin the conversation, while your laboratory results and health history help Brenna, FNP-C, determine which next steps may be appropriate. (Which services start with lab work, and why)

  1. Complete your labs. Baseline laboratory testing gives Brenna, FNP-C, objective information about your current health and helps identify what deserves closer attention.

  2. Meet with Brenna, FNP-C. Review your results, health history, symptoms, routine and goals during a thoughtful clinical conversation.

  3. Understand your options. If peptide therapy is appropriate, Brenna will explain potential options, expected follow-up and the next steps in your individualized plan.

Goals people often want to discuss

  • Recovery support. Recovery goals related to training, physical demands or returning to the activities you enjoy.

  • Muscle & body composition. Your goals for strength, muscle development and changes in body composition.

  • Performance & stamina. Training demands, daily performance, stamina and your current routine.

  • Energy & wellness. The larger picture, including energy, sleep, stress, habits and overall well-being.

  • Healthy aging. Your long-term health goals and the support you're looking for as your needs change.

  • Sexual health & wellness. A private, respectful conversation about changes in sexual health, confidence or connection.

Discussing a goal does not mean a particular therapy is appropriate. That's decided individually, after your evaluation.

What to bring to your consult

  • Your main goals, in your own words

  • Questions about follow-up and what ongoing care looks like

  • A current list of your medications and supplements

  • If you've had recent lab work, bring it. Brenna will let you know whether it can be used or whether new labs are needed.
